The Ducati Spaniard, recovering after the double operation, achieved the best qualifying time ahead of Acosta and Aldeguer. Aprilia in a bit of difficulty: Martin is ninth
Maybe he doesn’t yet have the physical strength to tackle an entire race, but on a single lap it’s still a spectacle. Marc Marquez took pole position at the Hungarian GP and is a candidate to be the protagonist of the Sprint scheduled today at 3pm and the race scheduled tomorrow, on a track where he dominated last year. Recovery after double surgery on his foot and arm is still ongoing, but after his return to Mugello last week, today in Hungary the Ducati world champion took another step forward. How competitive he can be in the race effort that a Sprint and a full race require is still an unknown, not even he knows. However, signals like the one launched today in Balaton Park can only lead to optimism.

The Spaniard, who had also crashed (without consequences) in Turn 1 at the start of Q2, preceded the wild Pedro Acosta on the KTM by 53 thousandths, who until Marquez’s last two space laps, seemed the natural candidate for pole. Third was Fermin Aldeguer with the Ducati Gresini, confirming that perhaps Aprilia has not yet found its measure in this race. The first bike from Noale, in fact, is that of world leader Marco Bezzecchi, sixth and also preceded by Fabio Di Giannantonio’s Ducati VR46 and the other official Ducati of Pecco Bagnaia. Well done Luca Marini, ninth: Valentino Rossi’s brother had the satisfaction of entering Q2 with the second fastest time in Q1 behind Bagnaia. Jorge Martin was only eighth with the second official Aprilia. At 3pm it will be a very interesting Sprint.
