Ferry Doedens is appealing in his drug case: not because of the 800 euro fine, but because of his driver’s license. Bart Ettekoven thinks it’s a shame. “Just sit on the blisters.”
To be sure, the fallen ex-GTST soapie Ferry Doedens will appeal after his conviction for driving under the influence of drugs. The court in Utrecht imposed a fine of 800 euros and a conditional driving ban for six months. Ferry finds the punishment itself mild, but there is still pain somewhere.
Appeal
His lawyer Kerem Canatan says that the pain lies in the lack of clarity about his driver’s license: it may have already been invalid due to previous convictions, which means that the new conviction will practically not change anything. But if the driver’s license is now valid again, Ferry would like it to remain that way.
Kerem narrates Show news“To be on the safe side, we have filed an appeal because there is uncertainty about the status of the driver’s license. During the hearing it was said that the driver’s license was already invalid, while we had seen in the documents that the driver’s license was still valid. That must first be clear.”
Lost your driver’s license?
Ferry wants his driver’s license back. “If the driver’s license has already been declared invalid, it does not matter at all what we decide, but if he still has his driver’s license, he will lose his driver’s license due to this conviction. It is important to have clarity about this.”
He continues: “The punishment is actually mild and he is satisfied with it. The pain is not there. The pain is in whether or not the validity of the driver’s license is lost. We only filed the appeal to gain time, because you have two weeks to appeal.”
Pathetic stuff
The experts at Shownieuws think it’s pathetic stuff. “I actually still think it’s a shame. We are far too lenient, even for people who are caught behind the wheel while drinking.”
He continues: “Then a lawyer always shouts: ‘Yes, but someone must also have their driver’s license for work, otherwise they will also lose their job.’ Yes, he should have realized that up front! You just have a responsibility when you get behind the wheel.”
‘Take it!’
Should Ferry lose his driver’s license? “Yes, as far as I’m concerned.”
Colleague Jordi Versteegden: “Yes, I completely agree with that. It was not only drink, but also drugs with which he could have killed several people. What are you pathetic doing with that appeal?”
Bart decides: “Just sit on the blisters for a while.”
