The facts took place on Friday, May 29 at 11:50 PM at the tram stop on Marie-Joséplein in Ostend. An argument broke out between the suspect and an unknown man in a tram booth. Another 35-year-old man intervened, causing the suspect to turn on him. The victim was then even attacked and threatened with a knife. The man in his thirties was not hit by the knife and therefore suffered no injuries.
The suspect had to appear before the council chamber in Bruges on Friday morning. The council chamber ruled that the 35-year-old man must remain in prison for at least a month longer in the interest of the investigation.
