Three weeks after relegation, the first important date of the new season awaits FC St Pauli: The first round of the DFB Cup will be drawn on Saturday evening.

The Kiezkickers were only eliminated in the quarter-finals last season. St. Pauli lost 3-0 at Bayer Leverkusen. The club celebrated its greatest success to date in the DFB Cup in 2006, when it reached the semi-finals as a regional league team. There it was over against FC Bayern Munich.

As a second division team, St. Pauli belongs to the so-called professional pot. This means that one thing is certain: the “Kiezkicker” have to play away at the start, because the lower-class clubs enjoy home advantage in the first round.
