The British actor Anthony Head, who became internationally famous for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, has died at the age of 72, the British Broadcasting Corporation BBC tells.

In the series, Head played Buffy’s mentor, the rigid librarian Rupert Giles, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar. The series shown in the 1990s became a cult classic.

– He was a tirelessly friendly and stable presence on the set of Buffy, and the best actor in the cast… I was lucky to know him and learn from him, recalled a Buffy colleague James Marters.

Buffy star Gellar also remembered Head, says The Independent.

– “Tell Giles I’ve got it sorted and I’m fine.” Well, I haven’t figured it out and I’m not feeling well,” Gellar wrote, referring to the Buffy scene.

– I know I’m lucky because I knew you, Gellar wrote in what she shared on Instagram in the picture.

Head’s family said the actor died of complications from pneumonia, surrounded by his family.
