A tough game is now being played in the Spanish capital.
Bayern Munich’s French striker Michael Olise has been drawn into Real Madrid’s wild transfer rumor mill. PDO
On Wednesday, Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland found himself in the middle of a surprising sopa. The cook was a Spanish entrepreneur Enrique Riquelmewho is in the running to become the next president of La Liga giant Real Madrid.
Riquelme insisted that if he is chosen for the job, he will bring in Haaland and City’s other superstar, the Spanish midfielder Rodrin to the country’s capital, Madrid.
Riquelme also promised to pay the season tickets of the club’s 100,000 members for next season, if the promise of star acquisitions did not materialize. Riquelme even made Haaland a Real Madrid shirt and posed with it on a TV show called El Hormiguero.
How did Haaland and Rodri’s current club Manchester City react to those claims?
Not well.
City already threatened legal action over the allegations.
Haaland and Rodri are by no means the only ones who are now being presented with sensational claims.
The other party in Real Madrid’s presidential election, i.e. the club’s current leader Florentino Pérez, is tuning his own “counterattack”.
According to The Telegraph’s sources, Pérez has set his sights on Michael Olise, the current French star of the German club Bayern Munich.
According to Brittilehti, Pérez intends to make Olise an offer of 130 million pounds, i.e. 150 million euros, if he is re-elected as president of the Madrid club.
Olise, 24, has recently risen to the top of the football world. Last season, Olise gave convincing displays at Bayern, scoring 15 goals and providing 21 assists in 32 Bundesliga matches.
In addition to this, he also excelled in the Champions League side (13 matches, 5 hits, 7 assists leading to goals).
Olise is one of France’s leading forces in the soon-to-be-started summer World Cup.
Pérez himself announced to the public that he promises to make “the biggest offer in the history of the club” if he is re-elected as chairman. According to Pérez, the offer would be worth 150 million euros, which the Telegraph referred to in its information.
According to Pérez, the offer would be made for a “forward player”. However, he denied that it was Bayern Munich’s British striker Harry Kane, the same club’s French striker Olise or Manchester City’s Belgian winger Jeremy Doku.
Pérez also shot down the claim that Real would be after City’s Norwegian striker Haaland.
In the course of history, there have been wild moves in Real Madrid’s presidential elections. An example of these is the year 2000, when Pérez was first elected president of the club. He promised at the time that Real would pursue world-class players such as Luis Figo, David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane.
They all eventually moved to Real Madrid.
Real’s presidential election this summer will be held on Sunday, June 7.
