Japan is preparing for the World Cup in Mexico. But the training sessions don’t go as the Asians had hoped.
Japan’s national soccer team changed training grounds in Mexico twice in two days. The reason: bad turf – first on the grounds of top club Tigres, then on a university campus.
Heavy rainfall had left the Tigres de Monterrey pitch in poor condition. The university campus also did not meet the requirements. In the end, the team trained on the grounds of CF Monterrey.

“There’s nothing you can do about it”
Technical director Masakuni Yamamoto of the Japanese Football Association told the daily newspaper “Sports Hochi”: “It’s because of the bad weather, there’s nothing we can do.” They want to ensure “optimal preparation” for the World Cup.
The World Cup starts on June 11th. Japan will play its opener on June 14th against the Netherlands – Eintracht Frankfurt professional Ritsu Dōan will also be there.
