Emil Holten will remain with Hansa Rostock in the coming season. The third division team has signed the 29-year-old center forward from Denmark from Elfsborg in the Swedish first division after a previous loan. It is said that both clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer. Holten scored 15 goals and three assists in 33 appearances last season. His transfer took a long time a year ago and turned into a game of patience for everyone involved.
“It was no secret that we wanted to keep Emil at Hansa. We are all the more pleased that we have now managed to sign him permanently. He knows the club, the team, the environment and fits in very well with us both in terms of sport and personality. He has developed positively and made his contribution in an important phase of the season. That is why it was clear to us that he should also play an important role in our offensive structure in the coming season,” said Hansa Rostock’s director of professional football Amir Shapourzadeh.
Holten explained: “I quickly felt at home in Rostock and felt the trust in the club and from the fans. That’s why it was clear to me early on that I wanted to stay. It was important to me to be in an environment in which I could contribute my part to the team. It’s all the better that we have now found a common solution. I’m looking forward to the new season and everything that lies ahead of us.”
