FC Bayern has no shortage of goalkeepers. Several are allowed to leave the club. Someone has now taken the step.

Daniel Peretz is leaving FC Bayern. The record champions announced this on Friday. The Israeli goalkeeper is moving permanently to the English second division club Southampton. Peretz had been on loan to the Saints since January. According to the TV broadcaster Sky, FC Bayern will receive a transfer fee of 7.5 to 8 million euros.

Sports director Max Eberl was satisfied with the change. “Daniel immediately established himself as number 1 at Southampton FC after his move in the winter and found a new sporting home there,” said Peretz. “We would like to thank him for the time we spent together in Munich: he has a great character and always contributed in a highly professional manner.”

A good deal from several points of view

The Israeli national player moved from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Munich in late summer 2023, costing around five million euros. But Peretz was mostly just a substitute and only played seven games for the professional team in two years. In the summer of 2025, Bayern loaned him to Hamburger SV, but he lost the goalkeeping duel against Daniel Heuer Fernandes at the newly promoted Bundesliga club, so he was only a substitute at HSV.

In the winter he moved to Southampton, where Peretz prevailed under German head coach Tonda Eckert. The deal is good for FC Bayern from several points of view. On the one hand, there are currently too many goalkeepers in the squad, and on the other hand, the income is important given the planned transfers of Ismael Saibari (PSV Eindhoven) and Nathaniel Brown (Eintracht Frankfurt). Together, the two potential new additions could cost around 100 million euros. The income from the Peretz deal will help the balance sheet.
