According to the police, he is in possession of a “sharp object”. Some say it is a knife. The man was able to escape after an incident in the hospital.
“At the first report, several patrols went to the hospital as well as our special assistance team,” says spokesperson Lien Depoorter of the Bruges Police.
“After a thorough check, the hospital has already been released, but the building is under increased control.
The man had already been seen outside the building on video and by witnesses. So we are searching with all our might for the man with extra reinforcement, a sniffer dog and the federal police helicopter has also been deployed.”
