The Serie A calendar: the criteria that govern the draw

For the sixth season in a row, the sequence of matches in the first round is different from that of the matches in the second round. A minimum of eight matchdays between home and away matches against the same opponent

midweek shifts

Matchdays 9 (28 October) and 18 (6 January) will be the two midweek rounds of the next Serie A season

Derby

Scheduled on different days and not on the first or last day, nor on the weekday midweek shift (9th day).

Those participating in the Champions League – Inter, Napoli, Roma and Como – do not face participants in the Europa League (Atalanta) on matchdays 7, 21, 25, 28, 31, 34 between two rounds of “back to back” UEFA competitions and for the fourth matchday limited to clubs participating in the Europa League

alternation

An alternation of home and away matches is planned for the following pairs of clubs: Inter-Milan, Lazio-Roma, Juventus Turin. Como will play the first three matches away to allow for the adaptation works planned at the Sinigaglia stadium
