“I wonder, with complete honesty, if any of these girls are really interested in knowing what happened to the girl,” he commented. Jonathan Viale in his radio cycle on Radio Rivadavia. In his program, the journalist questioned the massive mobilization of Not One Less carried out in the vicinity of the National Congress and linked it to the case of Agostina Vega.

The march called by civil organizations denounced the lack of commitment on the part of the political leadership, the judicial system and the national government to stop cases of gender violence and femicide. Days after the alleged femicide of the young woman from Córdoba, the communicator declared: “I think they don’t really want to know what happened to this girl.” “It’s much deeper, do you have any idea what’s in the background here?” he warned.

“Perhaps you are interested in asking yourself if in Córdoba there are child prostitution networks and/or kidnapping of young women, by bars, at the service of a sector of politics,” Viale remarked and closed: “I respect the movement a lot, but they are not helping to clarify the truth. Let’s go with the truth, seriously, about what happened with this girl Who is Barrelier? Who was he answering to?”.

Vega’s crime became one of the most resonant cases in recent years. The 14-year-old teenager had disappeared on May 23, after leaving her home in the General Mosconi neighborhood with a truck, and for a week she was intensively searched by family, neighbors and security forces. The investigation took a decisive turn when security cameras and different expertise placed the minor in contact with Claudio Barreliera former partner of his mother and a member of the Instituto club, who ended up being the only one arrested and charged in the case so far.

Surveillance camera images showed the young woman entering the suspect’s home in the Cofico neighborhood. Initially, the accused denied any encounter with Vega and even his defense stated that the person recorded in the videos could be his own daughter. However, with the progress of the investigation and the weight of the evidence, the accused modified his story and ended up acknowledging that the young woman had been at his home. This weekend, searches carried out in a vacant lot in the Ampliación Ferreyra neighborhood made it possible to find dismembered human remains that were linked to the missing teenager.

All the evidence in the case, which remained under the orbit of prosecutor Raúl Garzón, points to Barrelier as Vega’s murderer, in an attack in which the existence of sexual abuse and events linked to the network of trafficking of minors and dissemination of sexual content are evaluated. In addition to the aforementioned, people from his environment are involved in the file – such as the mother of the alleged femicide and a former partner who lent him the car to dispose of the body – who were incorporated into the investigation due to suspicious movements recorded during the days after the disappearance. The prosecution also does not rule out expanding charges if elements emerge that indicate collaboration or cover-up.

The accused had a police record for a case of unlawful deprivation of liberty in a context of gender violence and had regained freedom last year. According to the complaint, the accused took a 20-year-old girl to his house under various pretexts and, once inside, threatened her with a gun, took her cell phone and forced her to stay in a room. The victim later stated that her hands and feet were tied with adhesive tape and that she managed to escape half-naked to ask the area’s neighbors for help.

The accused was detained for only 20 days for this fact. He was later released after paying bail and under a series of conditions imposed by the prosecution, including the obligation to appear periodically before the Court. During that process he was defended by Ricardo Moreno. Regarding the latter, an aspect reverberated in the media when it became known that Barrelier is an employee of the Municipality of Córdoba and had participation in political structures linked to local Peronism.

In fact, the godfather of militancy in the Justicialist movement is the same criminal lawyer. Ricardo Moreno. This news raised strong questions about judicial controls and also about the municipality for allowing the employee to continue carrying out public activities despite his criminal record.
