It was a strange combination from the start: Buddy Vedder who performed experiments as a quasi-scientist in One against 100, the TV classic by Caroline Tensen. The ratings were nothing to write home about, the set-up was cringeworthy, and the chemistry between the two was not palpable, to say the least.

Weird role

According to Tina Nijkamp, it seems that Buddy will be kicked out after one season. “Good news for Caroline Tensen. She is getting a new season of Een tegen 100. Well, the Postcode Lottery is the major sponsor of that. It actually pays for that entire program for RTL 4,” she says in her podcast Tina’s TV Update.

“They get a tape on desk, so to speak, as they say, and this season will not be recorded as the most successful, but also not as the best season ever. Buddy Vedder has a very strange role in this season.”

All kinds of experiments

Buddy plays a kind of scientist in One against 100. “But of course we all know that he is not, because he is just a presenter and then he does all kinds of experiments and things. It is very painful television. So he is not in that new promo.”

Tina concludes: “I honestly think that this was a one-off that we saw Buddy Vedder on One against 100. It was not successful in terms of viewing figures, but above all it also provided very painful television. Unfortunately, I think it was the end of practice for Buddy there.”
