The Narcea river has given this year the ‘campanu‘ from Asturiasthe first copy to be caught after the opening of the fishing season of the Salmon with death in the Cantabrian and Asturian rivers, which has been put up for auction and sold by €13,200 to the El Bosque de Javita cider house.
The specimen has been thrown ashore this Sunday by the fisherman Carlos Álvarez, and has given a weight of 6,730 kilos.
As reported by the Salmon Fair, the fish has a length of 84 centimeters and has been caught in the El Güeyo well, in Pravia.
The ‘campanu’ has been caught on the first working day of the salmon season with death which will last until July 15, with a quota of one specimen per fisherman per day and a maximum of three in the whole of the campaign, one less than in the previous one.
Bigger and more expensive than the ‘campanu’ of 2021
Last year was the eo riverthe westernmost channel in Asturias, the one that gave an early riser ‘campanu’ in 2021, which reached a price of €10,300, 2,900 euros cheaper than in this 2022.

The specimen was captured, after 8:00 am, by the fisherman Gonzalo Fernández Suárez in the La Volta preserve, on the border between Asturias and Galicia, and weighed 5,150 kilos and a size of 79 centimeters.
Likewise, the record the most expensive ‘campanu’ is that of 2007, when it was auctioned for 18,000 euros, which were paid at the time by the Casino de Asturias.
