A student was injured during a national student strike in the Chilean capital Santiago on Wednesday. Protesters threw Molotov cocktails, prompting riot police to respond with water cannons and tear gas. The strike was organized by student federation Confech in protest against the policies of President José Antonio Kast. According to critics, this policy comes at the expense of public education, health care and social rights. Students gathered in Plaza Baquedano and marched through the city. Several demonstrators were arrested.
