The emergency services received a call on Tuesday around 8:30 PM for a fire in an apartment building in Koninginlaan in Blankenberge. There appeared to be another resident in the affected apartment on the ground floor. The 84-year-old man had to be removed from the building by the fire brigade. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition, but is now said to be in stable condition.
The Bruges department of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office has appointed a fire expert to investigate the precise circumstances. For the time being, we still have to wait for the expert’s first findings.
