With his selection to the All-Pro Second Team, Chris Olave has recommended himself to the New Orleans Saints for a contract extension. It shouldn’t take too long either.
Olave completed 100 passes for 1,163 yards and 9 touchdowns in the 2025 season, which was the best of his career to date. The 25-year-old’s contract with the Saints still runs for one year, so it’s time for negotiations.
A common way to increase the pressure: skipping voluntary training sessions and OTAs. However, that is not an issue for Olave.
“First and foremost, I care about sporting success and I see myself as a team player,” he said loudly last week WWL Radio. “The contract is a completely different issue. It’s about business.”
It shouldn’t take too long, because the training camp is already scheduled for July. “I think we will look into this before training camp,” Olave explained. “I hope so, so that we don’t influence team chemistry and things like that beforehand. I’m optimistic that we’ll come to an agreement soon.”
In the upcoming 2026 season, Olave will earn almost $15.5 million. Most recently, Jaxon Smith-Njigba set new standards with the Seattle Seahawks with an average annual salary of $42.15 million.
Quarterback Tyler Shough has a high opinion of his WR1: “He works extremely hard every day. He likes it here with us and in my eyes he is very valuable to the team.”
