Joyce Hübner (38) has set a new world record for women by running a marathon every day for 367 days. The German thus improves the record of our compatriot Hilde Dosogne. However, Hübner wants to continue for a while. Her goal: to run the blessed distance of 42.195 kilometers 495 days in a row.

Hübner broke the record in the German state of Lower Saxony, where she ran from Bookholt to Settrup. She thinks the title of ‘world record holder’ sounds a bit strange. “I’m just the runner with the most consecutive marathons in the world, which sounds much more impressive. And it feels good to say that.”

Biggest fear: the cold

Hübner is far from finished. After all, the marathons are part of her attempt to run through the 2,000 largest cities and towns in Germany. To achieve that, she will have to complete another 128 marathons. The total distance is 21,300 kilometers. “Every day will be exhausting. I never know what to expect,” she said.

Hübner started her attempt on June 1, 2025 in Helmstedt and must finish in the capital Berlin on October 8. She said her biggest fear at first was the cold winter temperatures. “I don’t like jogging outside in freezing temperatures at all.”

Breast cancer research

However, Hübner successfully passed that part. She only started running eleven years ago and ran her first marathon in 2018. The current trip is her second major project. In 2023 she had already run 120 marathons along the entire German border.

Hilde Dosogne ran 366 marathons in one year. The Belgian ultrarunner started on January 1, 2024 and raised 60,000 euros for breast cancer research by running 42 kilometers every day. On December 31, she completed her last marathon at the Ghent Watersportbaan.
