The site in Sint-Kruis (Bruges), located on the corner of Doornstraat and Keurvorst Karel Theodoorstraat, is being renovated by De Zessprong primary school and the OLVH institute. Both schools purchased the buildings several years ago and currently use them for school activities. But now the buildings will have a new future as a sports hall.
Renewal
Inside, the church is being thoroughly renovated into a modern gymnasium for the school campus. That room can be divided into two separate rooms. There will be a small grandstand room that can be used for lectures, meetings and school activities. The exterior of the church will be preserved, but the roof and floor will be made more energy efficient.
The former parish center will also be transformed into additional classrooms and completely renovated with attention to energy efficiency. Large floor-to-ceiling windows create plenty of natural light and an open, pleasant learning environment.
