Renée from Avenhorn is standing with her husband – a goldsmith wearing a Harley Davidson jacket – on the sidewalk of the court, letting off some steam. On the night of January 6 to 7, 2021, a group of men entered their home in Avenhorn. Because Theun works from home, the criminals think there is gold and money to be had, one of the suspects said on Monday afternoon in the hermetically sealed bunker in Amsterdam.
But the couple doesn’t give up easily. Theun fights with three men and grabs one of the robbers in a headlock.
“I studied judo,” he says. “So I know how to grab someone.” He then bites one of the man’s fingers with full force. Renée gives two of the men a hard blow, one with her fist on the back of the head. Her boyfriend then goes after the perpetrators with antique swords from his collection.
