Air traffic to and from Belgium will come to a standstill around 2 p.m. due to social unrest at air traffic controller Skeyes. The company has confirmed this.

According to information on the website of the European air traffic controller Eurocontrol, air traffic would be interrupted until 9 p.m.

The social unrest is related to negotiations between management and trade unions on accompanying measures for the transition to a digital control center for the airports of Liège and Charleroi. That center will be in Namur.

Skeyes manages air traffic to and from Belgian airports and airspace up to an altitude of approximately 7,500 meters. Airplanes flying higher over the country are guided by Eurocontrol.
