Three cars collided with each other at the intersection of Burgemeester Bechtweg and De Baggerweg in Tilburg on Monday afternoon around a quarter to six. The accident probably happened because a driver ran a red light. It is striking that a similar accident happened at the same intersection last week.
Two cars were waiting at a red traffic light on Burgemeester Bechtweg. When the light turned green, they drove straight towards the A65.
At the same time, a motorist came who wanted to turn left onto De Baggerweg. She allegedly ran a red light, after which the three cars collided hard.
Significant damage
The impact caused extensive damage to the cars. The intersection was full of debris and parts, which caused significant traffic disruption.
Two occupants of the car that turned left were checked at the scene by ambulance personnel. They did not have to go to the hospital. It is not known how the occupants of the other cars are faring. The police will no longer answer questions about this on Monday evening.
Second accident in a short time
Last week something went wrong at the same intersection. This was a similar accident, in which traffic lights may have been ignored or overlooked.
