The Giro d’Italia didn’t go at all as hoped for Giulio Pellizzari, the 22-year-old from the Marche region of Red Bull who started as captain after last year’s 6th place and had won the Tour of the Alps in April but didn’t go beyond 21st place. Now a bit of rest, an analysis of what went wrong and then we start again, perhaps at the Tour of Slovenia shortly after mid-June. “I’m proud to have arrived here in Rome, especially considering how I was in the last period. Now I’m free of everything. I don’t want to keep even a memory of this Giro. I’ll burn all the bibs and all the jerseys. After that, we’ll think about the next race. The most difficult part starts now: processing everything that happened and coming to terms with it.”
