The consequences for Sabine are great. She broke her top two cervical vertebrae, suffered a severe concussion and is not expected to be able to work for three months. “I was very seriously ill four and a half years ago and was actually not going to be there anymore. That made me better, I started working again and got my life back on track. And then this happens.”

Police are further investigating the case

After the initial investigation, the police concluded that it was probably an accident. A factor in this was that there were no witness statements that could prove intent or negligence. Now that Sabine has reported attempted manslaughter, the case is being reviewed and additional investigation will follow.

Her partner Coen also does not rule out that it was an accident, but believes that there should be more clarity about what exactly happened. “It could absolutely be an accident. It probably is an accident,” he says. “Just don’t make it a crime by concealing all this.”

Call for witnesses

Sabine hopes that people who saw something that day will still report. According to her, even the smallest detail can be important for the investigation. “Please come out with your story and even if you think I don’t like the police. Then do it for me.”
