Triviant returns to television. According to Tina Nijkamp, the iconic quiz program will land again on AvroTros and Eva Jinek is the most likely presenter. Will she follow Hélène Hendriks?
Triviant was once the party game of the Netherlands, and the television version was a logical extension of that in the 1980s. Now the program seems to be making its return, at AvroTros, the broadcaster that already has a strong face in Eva Jinek who would do well in this type of broad public entertainment, thinks Tina Nijkamp.
Trivial back
Tina had the scoop on the Triviant comeback this week. “That is the quiz that once caused a furore under Tineke Verburg. It was shown from 1988 to 2003, on TROS, and it is now returning to the same broadcaster. It will now be a daily quiz, on the spot where De Slimste Mens was and last week Hunted VIPS.”
The premiere is on August 17, after which it will be shown every working day at 9:30 PM on NPO 1. Tina continues in her podcast Tina’s TV Update: “That will continue until September 21, say. That is the start date of De Slimste. A striking choice by the NPO.”
Half past ten
NPO 1 seems to consciously focus on these types of programs. “I think it really fits in with the fact that they want to spice up that half past ten slot. That doesn’t work at all if there are no daily things and Triviant is of course a well-known title. I think it could easily become a success. Depending on who is going to present it.”
What does Tina think would work well? “I actually hope for Eva Jinek and I actually think that she has a great chance, because I think everything is important for NPO 1 and AvroTros to make it a success.”
Just like Hélène
If Eva does this, she will follow in the footsteps of Hélène Hendriks. She also started with a talk show and then moved on to entertainment TV.
Tina would welcome it. “Then you can choose a Frits Sissing or Rik van de Westelaken or someone else, but I think a choice like Eva Jinek would be very surprising. It could of course also be a type like Anniko van Santen, but then unfortunately I think the ratings will be slightly lower.”
Talpa as producer
It may also be a nice route for Eva to earn some extra money, because according to Tina, Talpa will be the producer. “That is remarkable, because Talpa is of course John de Mol’s company. He will probably produce it, because I think they have the international rights.”
Who will participate in Triviant? “It’s happening again with celebrities. It always has been that way.”
