The Carolina Hurricanes made an unstoppable march to the Stanley Cup Finals by knocking off the Montreal Canadiens for the fourth time in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals. The Hurricanes were better in the fifth game of the series with a score of 6–1.

The Hurricanes broke the decisive gap already in the opening set with goals from Taylor Hall, Logan Stankoven and Eric Robinson.

The Hurricanes’ lead only grew in the second with hits from Jackson Blake and Shayne Gostisbehere.

Cole Caufield hit a layup, then Seth Jarvis pushed the puck into the empty net from Sebastian Aho’s pass.

The Hurricanes’ Finnish star Aho, 28, now has an incredible opportunity in front of him when he gets to pursue the Stanley Cup victory for the first time ever.

The Hurricanes, represented by Aho and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, made quite a bit of NHL history at night. The Hurricanes are the first NHL club ever to advance to the Stanley Cup finals with only one loss in three rounds.

The Hurricanes now broke the previous record held by the Los Angeles Kings (12–2, 2012) and the Edmonton Oilers (12–2, 1988).

The Hurricanes will face the Vegas Golden Knights in the final climax of the NHL.

The Hurricanes have won the Stanley Cup once before. This happened in the 2005–06 season.
