Superlative performance by Carlos Hank Guerreiro, riding H5 Shaq Attack, and Fernando Martinez Sommer on Joep, both with a double zero. Completing the winning quartet were Andres Azcarraga on Contendros 2 (0-12) and Patricio Pasquel riding Chakkalou PS, who gave the Cup to the Mexicans after the barrage round, thanks to his clear run. Second place, therefore, for Germany, which paid for Richard Vogel’s mistake on Gangster Montdesir. Great Britain third. At the foot of the podium was Italy, which preceded Belgium, Brazil, USA and Ireland. Great disappointment for France, ninth with 16 penalties after the first lap and excluded from the second, ahead only of Sweden.

Having entered the race first, the Azzurri performed well. Well done Emanuele Camilli (on Chacareno PS) to score a clear during the first heat, as well as Giacomo Casadei on Marbella du Chabli (who took over from Piergiorgio Bucci and Hantano had been withdrawn due to a feverish attack on the horse) in the second. Also for Giampiero Garofalo, riding Querido Van’t Ruytershof, a clear result in the second heat, after the 4 penalties in the first. Happy return for Giulia Martinengo Marquet with Delta del Isle who has recently returned to the big stages. “I’m from Rome and so for me it’s a very heartfelt Nations Cup – comments Emanuele Camilli -. I’m extremely happy with how my horse jumped, a little less happy with how I rode the second lap. But this is our sport and every now and then it happens.
