Just a few days after his expulsion from top Turkish club Fenerbahce Istanbul, former Bundesliga coach Domenico Tedesco has found a new club.

Domenico Tedesco will take on a job in his native country for the first time since the start of his coaching career. As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, the German-Italian has agreed to work together with FC Bologna.

The former Schalke and Leipzig coach will either sign a contract for three years, or for just two years with the option of an extension for another season.

Tedesco was fired by Fenerbahce at the end of April after they lost the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray 3-0. Immediately afterwards, rumors emerged that the 40-year-old was also a candidate for Eintracht Frankfurt. However, this trail has now obviously gone astray.

Tedesco continues his short trip around the world

In Italy, Tedesco is taking over FC Bologna, a club that will not be represented in Europe next season. In the past season, the team only finished eighth in the final standings. Ultimately, three points were missing from reaching the European Cup.

In addition to Romano, “Sky Italia” also reports on the upcoming signing of Tedesco, who will inherit Vincenzo Italiano. He previously worked in Bologna for two years before they parted ways by mutual agreement a few days ago.

For Tedesco, the job in Italy continues his small, personal trip around the world. After starting his coaching career in Germany, he moved to Moscow in 2019. After a short stint at RB Leipzig, he took over the Belgian national team. After his big success with the Red Devils failed, he moved to Istanbul in the summer of 2025, where he left after just a few months.
