When starting over in the 2nd Bundesliga, VfL Wolfsburg could rely on a coach from a future competitor. According to information from the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, Tim Walter is a hot candidate for the relegated team from the Bundesliga. The 50-year-old took over the head coaching position at Holstein Kiel for the second time at the end of February and led the storks to stay in the league.
Update 8:00 p.m.: According to information from Transfermarkt, Wolfsburg has to look for another coach. Because Walter is facing an extension in Kiel, which will be officially announced shortly. The coach enjoys considerable support from the team and the sporting leadership, which is why he also decided to continue working together – despite interest from Lower Saxony.
Already after the last matchday it was said that Kiel wanted to extend Walter’s contract, which expired at the end of June. But Wolfsburg apparently tried to intervene and poach Walter for his mission of direct promotion. According to the report, he was said to have been presented with a concrete offer.

Wolfsburg is looking for a new coach, as Dieter Hecking is set to become sports director in the future. There is a contract until 2028 in the room. A few other names have already been traded before Walter: Alexander Blessin from FC St. Pauli, which was relegated like Wolfsburg, ex-Kiel coach Marcel Rapp, Christian Eichner, who has to retire from Karlsruher SC, and Tobias Strobl from the third division club SC Verl. However, Dietmar Kühbauer from LASK, who was once a player with the Wolves, plays no role in the planning of those responsible for VfL was active.
