A judge in the US has ruled that the name of US President Donald Trump must be removed from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. According to the ruling, the iconic cultural institution cannot be renamed without input from Congress.

District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the Trump administration to remove all physical signs bearing Trump’s name and expunge all references to a “Trump Kennedy Center” from official documents within 14 days.

“The center should be named after President Kennedy and should not have any other official name based on a unilateral decision by the board,” Cooper said. “Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it.”

The lawsuit was filed by Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty of Ohio.

The White House has not yet responded to a request for comment.
