Paul McCartney: These are his 5 favorite Beatles songs

An archive text from 2021. Hardly any musician has answered as many questions about his musical career as Paul McCartney – and yet he still speaks passionately about his time with the Beatles.

He most recently did this in an interview with Apple Music. Although it was also about current topics such as his new quarantine solo album, he also remembered turbulent times with the Fab Four and revealed which Beatles songs are particularly close to his heart.

It’s not the first time McCartney has answered the question of favorite songs, and he once again named the B-side of 1970’s “Let it Be”: “You Know My Name (Look Up the Number),” which also appeared on the 1978 album “Rarities.”

Macca said: “It’s a crazy, crazy little B-side that nobody knows about, but we had so much fun with it.” He continued: “Actually, there are a lot of songs that I love. I think ‘Strawberry Fields’ is a great song.” Other favorites are; “Hey Jude,” “Blackbird,” and “Eleanor Rigby.”

Music as a lifeline in the Corona crisis

Like many other musicians, Paul McCartney used the lockdown to make music. He said that he finally found the time to work on songs that he actually wanted to release in 2019. This ultimately resulted in his new solo album “McCartney III.”

About the creation process, he said: “It was really good to be able to make music and put thoughts, fears, hopes and love into the music. It saved me a little bit.”

“If we had broken up in an argument, I’m not sure how I would have handled it.”

McCartney also revealed that he had a very hard time after the Beatles split phase, but he was also happy that he and John Lennon were able to sort out their differences. “That was a huge blessing for me. If we had broken up in an argument, I’m not sure how I would have handled it,” said the 78-year-old.
