With Sylvie Marks, Robert Görl gives DAF’s electropunk departure a rebirth.

When Robert Görl asks in the title song of DARK SILVER MOON LIGHT whether it is possible for him to go to her, then he is crossing the boundaries of physical experience, because the “she” in question disappears like the moon in the lake and was never seen again from then on. Dream, illusion, mirage? Inspired by a shared full moon experience, drummer/singer Görl teams up with DJ/producer Sylvie Marks on this album to walk the border between the distortions of reality and the thrill of the surreal: in the shadow of the shimmering gold lake, the duo operates in a state of challenging vitality.

Just so there are no misunderstandings: DARK SILVER MOON LIGHT is not a romantic workshop for techno oldies. In the ten songs on the album, the two musicians develop a sound of departure, which structurally and lyrically refers to the era of electropunk, which Görl and Gabi Delgado-López as DAF had such a decisive influence on. “Please stay with me. Now is sometime, sometime is now.” At the album opening, a driver of a song lashed in the booming synth bass that formulates a Yes, we can in the here and now.

“I want everything, everything, just like you are.” The minimalist sound shower, hot and cold, as clear as the ass. “The wrong tone is the right tone, that’s the tone I like.” DAF had already postulated that there should be no wrong tone, Görl and Marks will march over historical terrain in heavy boots in 2026, a declaration of love for punk basics. On track “Play with me” The Görlies manage to do this even more impressively. The finale is a crackling, crackling electro ballad called “It’s never too late”in which the light plays a role, almost like at the full moon lake. Even now, no one knows where the dream woman of the title song has gone.
