VfL Wolfsburg is restructuring its personnel after relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga. While the coaching question is still open, the first decisions have been made in the squad.
VfL Wolfsburg made further personnel decisions after relegation on Thursday and, according to a report by “Kicker”, said goodbye to a total of nine players.
Wolfsburg had already announced on Wednesday that Jeanuel Belocian, Adam Daghim, Jenson Seelt and Jesper Lindström were returning after their loans to Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg, AFC Sunderland and SSC Napoli. Purchase options are therefore not drawn.
Wind and Paredes leave
According to the report, Jonas Wind and Kevin Paredes will no longer play for VfL in the future. The two’s contracts expire this summer. Wind played 124 competitive games and scored 35 goals for Wolfsburg, Paredes played 65 games and scored four goals.
Nicolas Cozza, Bartol Franjic and Jakub Kaminski apparently no longer have a future in Wolfsburg. The three most recently loaned players will no longer be part of the Lower Saxony squad next season.
The first signing so far has been Elvis Rexhbecaj, who is returning to his training club from FC Augsburg. According to “Kicker” information, the existing contracts also apply to the 2nd league, but salaries are expected to fall by around 35 percent after relegation.
It also remains unclear who will coach Wolfsburg in the future; According to “Kicker” information, Dieter Hecking is to become managing director, and St. Pauli coach Alexander Blessin is considered a candidate.
VfL Wolfsburg was relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in the club’s history on Whit Monday. The Lower Saxony team lost the second leg of the relegation match at SC Paderborn 1-2 after extra time after being long outnumbered.
