The striker who grew up with the Giallorossi would like to return to the capital to work with his beloved coach. Furthermore, he should reunite with former Nerazzurri sporting director D’Amico. But the club has other priorities, the attacking wingers. And the figure for Deputy Malen is too high
He tried, more than once. And perhaps there has never been a more suitable time to do so. Gianluca Scamacca wants to return to Roma and has already proposed himself to Gasperini and some of his national team teammates. The striker, on holiday in Spain after the end of the season, is insisting on returning to the capital. The city where he was born, where his family lives and where his wife Flaminia would also like to live again. And, as we were saying, the moment would be favorable for several reasons.

The first is that Scamacca’s contract expires in 2027 and Atalanta has no intention of renewing. Indeed, the Bergamo club would like to reduce the salary and the attacker’s salary is the richest in the squad: 3.2 million. Consequently, faced with a good offer, there would be no obstacles to selling him a year in advance compared to the risk of losing him on a free transfer. The second factor is Gasperini himself, with whom Scamacca experienced the highest point of his career and with whom he has maintained an excellent relationship off the pitch as demonstrated by the coach’s presence at his wedding with Flaminia a year ago. Furthermore, he would (almost certainly) find D’Amico again, the sporting director who brought him to Atalanta. And, precisely with Gasp, the striker born in Fidene has been in touch in recent days, expressing his desire for Roma after the attempts to return already made in 2023 when he then ended up at Atalanta.
the costs

Scamacca is aware that he would start behind Malen in Roma, but also that with three competitions and Gasperini’s constant rotations in attack there would certainly be space. What he found with difficulty in the second part of the season with the Nerazzurri given Krstovic’s good performance. At 27 years old, Gianluca wants to return home and would be very happy to wear the centenary shirt of the team he has always supported and for which he played for three years of youth before leaving for Eindhoven and the long round spent with Sassuolo, Ascoli, Genoa and West Ham. But, obviously, good intentions are not enough. Because Atalanta still asks for 25 million for Scamacca, a figure that can be cushioned by bonuses, but which today Roma does not intend to spend on a deputy Malen. And in fact there is no negotiation at the moment. The priorities are different and mainly focus on the attacking flanks between the Greenwood dream and alternatives such as Summerville and Pepe. Later, however, the deal could also take shape. Scamacca in the squad would take the place of Dovbyk for whom Roma will try to explore every type of lead in Italy or abroad.
