The search for a new coach is in full swing at the “Werkself”. Apparently the sporting management is also dealing with ex-Atletico professional Filipe Luís.
The next coaching change is on the horizon at Bayer Leverkusen. According to information from pay-TV broadcaster Sky, Filipe Luís is currently the favorite for the Werkself position.
Accordingly, negotiations with the Brazilian have already begun. However, Bayer is said to also have other candidates on the list as alternatives. However, Luís is currently the clear desired target after ex-Frankfurt player Oliver Glasner was considered the top candidate last week.

According to the report, Leverkusen’s plan is to only announce Kasper Hjulmand’s departure once the successor has been determined. The Dane took over the club after the early exit of Erik ten Hag, who had to leave after the second matchday of last season. Hjulmand signed a contract until 2027, but missed qualification for the Champions League with the Werkself.
Filipe Luís has been without a club since March
Filipe Luís played 333 games for Atlético Madrid and 44 games for the Brazilian national team during his active career. The former left-back ended his playing career at Flamengo Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of 2024.
In September 2024, he took over the coaching position there and led the Brazilian club directly to the championship and winning the Copa Libertadores. However, Luis was released in March of this year. Now his path could lead him to Leverkusen.
