VfB Stuttgart says goodbye to Alexander Nübel after three years. His successor has been chosen, but his future club has not.

After three years, Alexander Nübel’s loan at VfB Stuttgart ends. The national goalkeeper is returning to FC Bayern Munich – but he no longer plays a role in their plans. His successor in Stuttgart will be 20-year-old Dennis Seimen, who has just been promoted to the Bundesliga with SC Paderborn.

Seimen grew up in the VfB youth team and is returning to Paderborn after a second division season. He is about to make his first Bundesliga appearances at VfB and will also play in the Champions League with the Swabians.

Nübel played 129 competitive games for VfB in three years. The 29-year-old explained: “It was a sensational time at VfB Stuttgart in every respect. My family and I had three wonderful years in Stuttgart, and I felt very comfortable from day one. I was shown a lot of appreciation and respect by the team and the fans, for which I am very grateful.”

Will it go to Manchester City or Juventus?

VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth said about the outgoing goalkeeper: “Alexander Nübel has set standards in the last three years. In terms of sport, character, on and off the pitch. Alex could always be relied on; VfB’s positive development with its third participation in a European competition in a row is inseparably linked to him.”

A firm commitment was not financially feasible for Stuttgart. Nübel’s contract with FC Bayern runs until 2030. The “Bild” newspaper reported that Manchester City and Juventus Turin are said to be interested in him.
