With Hannover 96 he was denied promotion to the Bundesliga. And yet Enzo Leopold’s path leads upwards. His move is imminent.
The ways of Hannover 96 and captain Enzo Leopold are apparently separating this summer. As the pay TV channel “Sky” and “Bild” both report, the 25-year-old is about to move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
Accordingly, those involved have already agreed on a transfer. Only the obligatory medical check is still pending. Leopold should sign a contract in Gladbach until 2030. Because his working paper in Hanover expires at the end of the season, the move can be made free of charge.
Enzo Leopold: Undisputed leader in Hanover
The central midfielder moved from SC Freiburg to Hannover in 2022. There he developed into an absolute leader.

In the current season he made 35 competitive appearances, in which he contributed three goals and four assists. In total, he played 124 times for Lower Saxony (8 goals, 17 assists).
Leopold and Hannover recently missed promotion to the Bundesliga by a hair’s breadth despite good conditions in the final stretch of the second division. After four draws from the last five games, the detour via relegation was blocked as fourth in the table. For Leopold, things will now continue in Germany’s elite league despite the bitter sporting setback.
