The 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl suspected of killing 11-year-old Théo in the French city of Rennes have admitted they wanted to ‘take revenge’ on the boy. This is what prosecutor Frédéric Teillet said. The two teenagers wanted to steal back items ‘worth several tens of euros’.
According to Teillet, the 16-year-old boy and the 15-year-old girl were seen that day ‘in the company of the victim at the crime scene’. The interrogations of the two suspects show that the boy had already gone fishing with Théo on Saturday. The two had agreed to do that again on Sunday.
Revenge over bait
“The two suspects admit that they attacked and strangled the child,” the prosecutor said. “They claim that they attacked him out of revenge and to get back bait worth several tens of euros that the victim allegedly took from them.” However, Théo had told his parents that he had received the bait from the 16-year-old boy.
The detention of the two young suspects has now been extended. They are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
