“I received a letter from the judiciary last week stating: ‘We will handle your file without criminal prosecution.’ But I was unable to work for five months,” says Steven (45), controller at De Lijn. He reacts after the heavy aggression in De Haan, because it is a daily occurrence on the tram and bus, according to figures from last year. In total, there were 303 incidents of physical aggression and 1,800 cases of verbal aggression. “Sometimes they catch a perpetrator and release him behind the corner.”
