The former Maranello number 1 is critical of the brand’s first electric car. Stock market decline of over 8%. The car presented to Sergio Mattarella and Leone XIV

May 26 – 6.44pm – MILAN

From the Quirinale to Castel Gandolfo to present the Ferrari Luce, Maranello’s first electric car, to the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Pope Leo XIV. Smiles, handshakes, photos with the delegation led by John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna and Piero Ferrari, which clash with the judgment that Luca Cordero di Montezemolo gives of the car unveiled on May 25th. On the sidelines of the Confindustria meeting, the former president of the red team, when questioned on the subject, replied as follows: “If I had to say what I think I would hurt Ferrari. There is a risk of destroying a myth, I am very sorry. I hope that at least the horse is removed from that car”. Montezemolo then added: “This is definitely a machine that at least the Chinese won’t copy from us.”

drop in the stock market

There was little doubt that the new car would be divisive. The opinion of the Milan Stock Exchange is for a drop in Ferrari shares of 8.37%. Even the opinion of the leader of the League Matteo Salvini was negative: “Electric, very expensive (550 thousand euros!) and, from an aesthetic point of view, it speaks for itself… It seems anything but a Cavallino car. And this would be “innovation”? Who knows what Enzo Ferrari would say…” he wrote on social media.

open event in Rome

As mentioned, on the morning of the 26th the car was presented to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the Quirinale. On the same day the new Ferrari Luce was shown to Pope Leo XIV at his residence in Castel Gandolfo. The first real crowd for the Light is expected on Saturday 30 May in Rome at Vela di Calatrava. Visitors will be able to take part in a journey of discovery of the Ferrari Luce for free. The experience will begin with an exhibition of the technological and design components of the cars, with subsequent moments of in-depth analysis of its unique characteristics. At the end of the visit, participants will also be able to admire other iconic models from Ferrari’s history up close. To make the event even more evocative, starting from 9pm light shows will illuminate the futuristic architecture of the building. The initiative – underlines the Maranello company – reflects the strong relationship between Ferrari and Rome, where the driver Franco Cortese achieved his first victory on 25 May 1947.
