Holocaust survivor Elly Vleeschhouwer (1924-2026) refused to fight for food: ‘There are more good people in the world than bad’

‘Nice puh’ she had written next to a family portrait with two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. Because this was of course not the intention of the Nazis, she explained with a triumphant laugh in her living room two years ago. Elly Vleeschhouwer-Blocq, who survived eight concentration camps, died last week at the age of 101.
