After weeks of speculation about Grischa Prömel, there is now clarity. He is fulfilling a dream.
Two days after losing the DFB Cup final against FC Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart confirmed the transfer of Grischa Prömel. The 31-year-old is moving from TSG Hoffenheim to his hometown club on a free transfer and has signed a contract until June 2029.
There had been speculation about the midfielder’s future for weeks. His contract with TSG expired. In the 2024/25 season, Prömel missed a large part of the season due to a torn cruciate ligament. He then fought his way back and re-established himself as a top performer for Hoffenheim. Last season he was involved in nine goals (seven hits, two assists).
Stuttgart’s sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth justified the commitment: “Grischa has excellent footballing skills, is extremely ambitious and has gained a lot of important experience in recent years. This combination makes him a very valuable newcomer for us, who also comes from the region and therefore has a high level of identification with VfB.”
Prömel himself explained that he had wanted to move to VfB for a long time and had always followed Stuttgart. “For me, it’s now a dream come true and I’m looking forward to being able to wear the breast ring from the new season.” He is impressed by the club’s development and “it feels good to now be part of this journey.”
