Ex-Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidžić has praised his successor Max Eberl for his work in Munich. “He does it quite confidently and I think he does it well,” he said in Sport1’s “Doppelpass”. Being in the media every day and being criticized from many sides is part of the job. “You have to live with that as FC Bayern’s sports director,” said the 49-year-old, who first worked as sports director and then as sports director for the Munich team from 2017 to 2023.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß said in a “Spiegel” interview on Friday that there were still doubts in the supervisory board about extending Max Eberl’s contract beyond 2027. “The chances are 60 to 40,” said Hoeneß. “As far as I know, 60:40 speaks for Max, so that’s positive and much more than praise,” ex-boss Salihamidžić didn’t want to attach too much charisma to the statements.

Ex-Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg, however, criticized Hoeneß’ statements. “Uli didn’t do Max any favors. He didn’t deserve that, he did a great job.”
