Jaïr Ferwerda thinks Caroline van der Plas is a quite unhygienic woman, as he hints in his new book. He still remembers recordings at her home. “Old dog food.”
Caroline van der Plas is invariably portrayed as a kind of farmer’s wife with dirty habits. For a long time, Sander van de Pavert made funny videos in which we hear the BBB celebrity shouting that she has to ‘shit’. There is a grain of truth in that image, says political reporter Jaïr Ferwerda in his new book, as can be read in the A.D.
Fantastic scene
Three years ago, Jaïr made a documentary about her political party, which allowed him to experience Caroline up close. “For a Videoland documentary, Caroline van der Plas from the BBB confided in me in August 2023: I have a prime ministerial candidate in mind!”
He continues: “Before the party announced Mona Keijzer’s name through a press presentation, she first came to Caroline’s house. And that gave me a fantastic scene!”
Dog food
Jaïr still remembers it well. “Caroline lives in a terraced house in Deventer, smokes and is a slob. Mona is a clean Volendam and hates smoking. There couldn’t be a greater contrast. So Caroline takes the mop and starts sweeping her house. There are still pieces of the dog that had left for six months on the floor everywhere.”
And then? “Then Mona arrives, the door opens and you see in her eyes: what kind of life have I ended up in?! Well, the rest is history. The campaign became a downfall.”
