FC Bayern secured their first double since 2020. Against VfB Stuttgart, one player once again excelled – a national player, on the other hand, had a weak day. The individual criticism.
DFB Cup winner for the 21st time: FC Bayern completed the league and cup double with a confident 3-0 (0-0) win against defending champions VfB Stuttgart and won both titles for the first time in six years.
“I was so looking forward to this final. I wanted to make the fans proud. A hat-trick in the final in such a special game is a special feeling. I’m very proud of it after a long season. To end it like this is perfect,” said Bayern’s triple goalscorer Harry Kane after the game on Sky.
Kane’s teammate Joshua Kimmich was also overjoyed about the end of the cup drought. “We really wanted to win this thing – for ourselves, our families and the club, because it’s something special,” said the midfielder on ARD.
Coach Vincent Kompany’s team had a hard time dealing with the aggressive and attacking Stuttgart team, especially in the first half of the game. After the break, however, one man in particular was once again at his best.

After the early championship in the Bundesliga and the unfortunate semi-final exit in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, there was recent speculation as to whether Bayern’s season rating would depend on just one game. If Bayern hadn’t won, the Bundesliga’s record season would have had “a bitter aftertaste,” according to Kane. So it ended with great Munich cheers and another night of partying.
