The second week of the Giro d’Italia ends in Milan. After Saturday’s climbing violence, most riders can relax today in a flat race. For the sprinters, this is the ultimate chance for a day’s victory.

What time do they start?

The stage starts at 1:55 PM in Voghera. Like most stages this Giro, this one will also finish around 5:15 p.m.

What does the course look like?

Actually very simple: it is a flat stage. The riders go north from Voghera, towards Milan. There are two intermediate sprints along the way, but no categorized climbs. In Milan the peloton completes four more laps.

The finish street is dead straight in this stage. The last bend is 2 kilometers from the finish.

The biggest challenge will still be the heat. It will be more than 30 degrees in Northern Italy.

Who are the favorites?

If nothing crazy happens, it will be a day for the sprinters. Paul Magnier will be hunting for his third victory in his purple jersey. Jonathan Milan hopes to finally take his first day victory in his home country.

Behind it is Dylan Groenewegen one of the top contenders. His team Unibet Rose Rockets is capable of taking a great lead-out, as was evident in the previous sprint stages. This time there are no crazy turns that could throw a spanner in the works.

Outsiders are Tobias Lund Andresen, Ethan Vernon, Matteo Malucelli and Casper van Uden.

Where is it on TV?

The Giro is broadcast on Eurosport. It can also be streamed on HBO Max. The broadcast starts at 1:30 PM.
