The ordinary general assembly with elections has been completed in Galatasaray. The 105th term management of the club was determined at the general assembly held at Galatasaray High School, where approximately 10 thousand members had the right to vote. Current president Dursun Özbek, who entered the election as the only candidate, was re-elected as president with 1,780 votes.
HE WILL BE THE SECOND LONGEST-SERVING PRESIDENT
Dursun Özbek, who is entering his fourth term as president of the yellow-red club, will become the second longest-serving president in the club’s history if he completes his two-year term in the new term. Özbek, who has been president for approximately 6 years and 7 months so far, is expected to rise to second place, leaving Suphi Batur, Selahattin Beyazıt and Ali Uras behind, if he completes his term.
ALİ SAMI YEN IS AT THE SUMMIT
While 38 different names have served as president of Galatasaray in its 121-year history, Ali Sami Yen, the founder of the club, is at the top of the list with a tenure of approximately 14 years.
Dursun Özbek’s management process at Galatasaray started in 2011, during the period of then-president Ünal Aysal. Özbek, who later served as vice president under Duygun Yarsuvat’s management, was elected as the 36th president of Galatasaray in the ordinary general assembly held in 2015.
ENTERING ITS FOURTH TERM
Özbek, who became president for the second time in the extraordinary general assembly held in June 2022, started his third term in the ordinary election held in May 2024. With the last election, he was appointed president of the yellow-red club for the fourth time.
