NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang firmly believes in the future potential of artificial intelligence. In his opinion, AI could close the technology gap for billions of people.
• NVIDIA CEO praises AI opportunities
• Young people should learn to use AI as an important tool
• According to Huang, jobs are not at risk from AI
It should come as no surprise that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, as the head of the world’s largest AI top dog, firmly believes in the potential of artificial intelligence. He recently showed this once again during his speech at the graduation ceremony at Carnegie Mellon University, the text of which NVIDIA published on the company’s own blog.
In his opinion, artificial intelligence can help give more people access to computer technology: “We have the chance to bridge the digital divide – and make the possibilities of computer technology and artificial intelligence accessible to billions of people for the first time,” said Huang.
Young people have an advantage
The NVIDIA CEO also sees opportunities especially for young people who are just starting their professional lives and said at the event: “Now is the time to make your dreams come true, and the timing couldn’t be better.” Closing the technology gap would open up many more opportunities for young people in the coming years. “No generation has come into the world with more powerful tools – or greater opportunities – than you,” the top manager continued. “We are all on the same starting line. Now is your moment to help shape the future.”
Huang actually sees a new reindustrialization imminent, but one that is different from previous revolutions: “But what is about to happen is bigger than anything that has come before. Since data forms the basis of every industry, every industry will change.” The NVIDIA CEO does not assume that just a new computer industry will be created, but rather “a new industrial age”.
Jobs are not at risk
The company leader recognizes the concerns of people who fear their jobs could become redundant due to the rapidly spreading technology. However, Huang sees more of the opportunities offered to people by AI: “Every major technological revolution in history has brought about both opportunities and fears,” he emphasized. “When society approaches technology openly, responsibly and optimistically, we expand human potential far more than we limit it.”
In his opinion, this also includes decisive action by various actors from politics, science and technology in order to keep pace with the rapid progress of artificial intelligence when it comes to security.
Young people need to learn to see AI technology as a useful tool: “AI probably won’t replace you. But someone who uses AI better than you might.”
Mass layoffs at tech giants
In fact, there have already been large-scale layoffs at numerous tech companies citing efficiency improvements through AI. Social media giant Meta Platforms has already announced that it wants to reduce its global workforce by 20 percent and instead wants to rely more on AI. Online retail giant Amazon is continuing its plan to cut 16,000 jobs in 2026 and is investing in automation and the integration of robots. Microsoft has already let thousands of employees go in various areas of the company and, according to the International Business Times, has offered almost seven percent of its U.S. workforce to retire early.
The tech company Block von is taking an even more drastic approach Jack Dorsey before: The company has already laid off 40 percent of its employees due to automation in order to save costs. Crypto major Coinbase also plans to reduce its workforce by around 14 percent.
Between joy and worry
According to a Pew Research Center study cited by Business Insider, around half of Americans surveyed are more worried than excited about the increasing prevalence of AI in their everyday lives. According to the portal, AI also makes job searches more difficult as the interview process is lengthened and it becomes more difficult for graduates to land a job. At the beginning of 2026, the unemployment rate among university graduates reached its highest level in four years.
These concerns are fueled by tech CEOs themselves, such as Anthropic boss Dario Amodei, who announced last year that AI could destroy half of entry-level jobs in the office sector, according to BI. Tesla boss Elon Musk Meanwhile, in an interview with Joe Rogan at the beginning of 2026, he said that there was a “20 percent chance” that humanity would be wiped out by AI.
Huang wants to smooth things over
Huang himself is critical of such bad news from various tech bosses and tried to smooth things over in the podcast “Memos to the President” at the beginning of May, as Business Insider writes. He believes senior AI decision makers should be more “careful” in their words regarding the technology. “Such comments are not helpful,” said Huang. “They come from people like me – CEOs. Somehow, once you become CEO, you develop a God complex and before you know it, you think you know everything.” He added: “I think we have to be careful and really limit ourselves to talking about the facts.”
