From the fifth edition of Anas’s research on driving styles, it emerges that Italians know very well that cell phones are dangerous, but they use them anyway while driving
65.5% of Italians use the mobile phone while driving, but only 41.9% of them do it correctly. These are the data from the latest edition, the fifth, of the research on driving styles commissioned by Anas and conducted by GR, which photographs a very unreassuring fact: Italians know the danger deriving from the use of smartphones behind the wheel, but they continue to take a big risk.
THE ANAS INVESTIGATION

For the fifth edition of his survey on the driving styles of Italians, Anas interviewed a sample of 4,000 users of managed highways, and collected further 5,000 observations direct driving behaviors. The observations were made using two detectors inside a driving car 12 state roads and highways Italian:

THE RESULTS

From the investigation emerges a very inconsistent behavior of Italians: 75% of them consider using a smartphone while driving dangerous, but only 34.5% of those interviewed avoid using it. Only 41.9% use voice commands or Bluetooth and 14.6% dial the number manually and 8.9% drive with their phone in their hand. 7.9% of the sample says they have had an accident and 90.8% of them say they use their cell phone while driving. Despite these percentages, however, as many as 81% of those interviewed know the new Highway Code and 86% approve of the increased penalties.
