Sieneke Peeters is open to going to the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of our country next year, once AvroTros has lifted the Israel boycott. “Possibly in a duet.”

Not all artists will be in line to travel to the Eurovision Song Contest next year if AvroTros wants to participate again. Controversy remains over Israel’s participation in the song festival. For example, Belgium has announced that there is a good chance that they will also stay away next year, just like our country and, for example, Ireland and Spain.

Sieneke isn’t looking

In any case, Sieneke Peeters is open to it, she says in the Show news from last night. She once went to the music spectacle with the song Sha-La-Lie.

It’s a shame that the Eurovision Song Contest wasn’t like that this year, she says. “I must honestly say that this is the first year that I have not followed it as much as in other years, but I think that is really because the Netherlands is not participating. I also think: it is much less lively than in previous years.”

‘I want to go there!’

Sieneke would like to go next year. “I’m open to everything. Do you know what it is? I experienced the Eurovision Song Contest, but I was just 18 at the time. I came to William Rutten to take my first photos for the National Eurovision Song Contest and that was such a special time, but also everything surrounding it…”

She continues: “I just came to have a look, so I lived my dream there, and to experience that again, yes, that seems really crazy to me of course.”

More aware

Sieneke is now 34 years old. “Then you are more aware of it, I think. I think you also experience a bit more pressure. Back then I didn’t have that at all. I really didn’t feel any pressure. I just did my thing.”

Music expert Ronald Molendijk concludes: “But guysIf you participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, you will be standing on one of the largest stages in the world. Your wages will simply increase in the following weeks. I mean: of course she will participate (if she is asked, ed.)!”
